Preferences can be set for a variety of GUI features either locally within a project or globally for a user. These are stored in ''.eman2settings.json'' in the project or in ''~/.eman2/eman2settings.json'', and can be modified using e2procjson.py with the --setoption option, using the form ''program.option:value''
